Baeren Classic and TG Pilsner Awarded “Finest Beer” Recognition

Baeren Brewery is proud to announce that “Baeren Classic” and “Baeren Beer The Day TG Pilsner” have been awarded “Finest Beer” honors at the Finest Beer Selection 2026, an international beer evaluation event held near Munich in Bavaria, southern Germany.

This marks the fifth time that Baeren Brewery has received recognition at this prestigious competition. Furthermore, Baeren Classic, the brewery’s flagship beer, earned its first-ever Finest Beer award.

About Finest Beer Selection 2026

Now in its fourth edition, the Finest Beer Selection differs from conventional beer competitions that focus on ranking winners and losers. Instead, an international panel of tasting experts evaluates breweries holistically, taking into account each producer’s philosophy, background, story, beer quality, and flavor profile.

The judging took place at Doemens Academy, a renowned brewing education institution located in Gr Gräfelfing, just west of Munich in Bavaria, Germany. Beers are assessed through blind tastings without being constrained by predefined style categories.

Using a 100-point scoring system, beers receiving 90 points or more are recognized as a “Finest Beer” of the year.

In 2026, 843 beers from 122 breweries were submitted. Among them, only 285 beers achieved the required score of 90 points or higher and were awarded the title of Finest Beer.

▼Baeren Classic

A traditional lager brewed in the authentic Dortmunder Export style, long enjoyed in Dortmund, Germany. It is characterized by a well-balanced combination of malt richness and hop bitterness, resulting in a satisfying flavor that never grows tiring.

Its exceptional quality is also reflected in its achievement as the inaugural Grand Prix winner of the “Japanese Craft Beer Worth Sharing with the World” competition.

Evaluation: 90 Points

Baeren Classic received no point deductions in any flavor-related evaluation category. It earned scores of over 80% across all criteria, including foam quality, balance, mouthfeel, and drinkability.

This recognition demonstrates that beer professionals worldwide have acknowledged the unique flavor and quality of the “Baeren taste” born in Iwate, Japan.

TG Pilsner is brewed with generous amounts of premium Czech Saaz hops, renowned for their refined aroma. The beer delivers a crisp bitterness, excellent drinkability, and a lingering hop fragrance.

Combining traditional brewing techniques with artisan craftsmanship, TG Pilsner offers a world-class interpretation of this classic style.

Evaluation: 92 Points

The beer received full marks in the appearance category and achieved scores over 80% across all evaluation criteria.

This is its second Finest Beer award, following its recognition in 2023.
